Save the Date! All are welcome!

Family Math Night at Alpine will be held on Wednesday, October 12 from 6:30- 7:30 p.m.  All students are welcome to bring an adult with them to learn math games, make and take a math fluency activity, and try to solve problems.

We believe:

  • mathematical skills are just as important as literacy skills,
  • parents are our partners and their engagement is important in improving student achievement,
  • we are all mathematicians,
  • math is everywhere, and
  • math is fun!

Each of our classes is currently working on a school-wide math problem: If all Alpine Alligators went outside and held hands, would we be able to reach all the way around our building?  In other words, can we give our school a hug?  Solutions to this problem from each class, JK to grade 6, will be on display and you can find out our results from when we go and “Act It Out” on Oct. 12!

Each family will take home a “sweet” challenge that when returned will be entered into our second draw for Rangers tickets for the January 6 Rangers game!  Extra ballots can be earned by families who tweet a picture of their questions and answers and include @alpwrdsb in the tweet.  (This challenge is for all families – if you are unable to join us on October 12, your sweet challenge will be sent home with your oldest child.)

Sincere thanks go to our amazing and dedicated staff members who have been involved in planning this event – Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. Abshoff-Millar, Mrs. Ramdeholl, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Jackson-Lawson, Ms Givlin and Mr. Swartzentruber.

We look forward to having fun and learning with you!
