February 10th, 2017
Dear families,
We are excited to be registering our new kindergarten students for the 2017-2018 school year. Families with new students can complete the registration on-line and then call the office to book an appointment with Mrs. Crewe.
Report cards come home on Friday, February 17. Thank you for taking time to read them and complete and return page 3 on Monday, February 20. There are many celebrations in the reports and valuable next steps.
Parents are reminded that the parking lot is not for student drop off or pick up. By-law officers were out this week to reinforce this. Student safety is our first priority – thank you for your cooperation.
We need your help to improve student learning in math. We are encouraging all students who have access to DreamBox (all of our grades 1-3 and some junior students) to use DreamBox for 20 minutes twice each week and are asking those parents to monitor this. Thank you for being a valuable part of our team!
Pokemon cards have become an issue with some theft, unfair trades and losses. Students and staff have met and developed a plan so that hopefully we can continue to enjoy Pokemon cards at school. The new agreement calls for students to only bring 5-10 cards to school at a time (not their favourites) and to only trade with students close to their own age (e.g., grades 1 and 2 students can trade, grade 3 with grade 4 and grade 5 with grade 6). Mrs. Fraser’s class has prepared a skit during their health class to present to other classes as a reminder. We are confident that our students can solve this problem by working together. As a staff we do follow up with every concern of theft that is shared although we are not always successful in returning property to the rightful owner.
Family Breakfast is on February 17 from 8:15 – 9:00 a.m. Please complete the attached google doc to let us know if you can make it. Students must be accompanied by adults.
