Dear families;

A strong staff builds a strong community!

We took time today to recognize our wonderful Educational Assistants – Mrs. Hardman, Mrs. Hachey, Mrs. Wijbenga-Groot and Mr. Lemont – as well as our superb custodian, Mrs. Fairhurst, and our skilled CYW, Mr. Minor.  These caring staff members support our students and our staff and enhance learning each and every day.  The rest of our staff honoured their work as a special Appreciation Breakfast this morning. We are very grateful for their dedication and caring.

On April 18th we will welcome Mrs Baxter back from her maternity leave and she will resume her role as our full-time SERT. I know from her visits that students are excited to be able to learn with her again.  Mrs. Jackson-Lawson, who has been doing a great job in the SERT role, is excited to take on her position as the grade 5 teacher in the portable.  She has done supervision in the portable all year so knows the students quite well already.  We are grateful for all of Ms Weichel’s work with the grade 5 students and sorry to see her go – the good news is that she will be available on the OT list again so we hope to keep her quite busy at Alpine in the remaining months.  In addition to her work in the classroom, her contributions to our school community are greatly appreciated – especially for initiating the popular dance club and for providing the needed nudge to get Alpine started  on Instagram.

Miss Eidt’s leave from K-2 has been extended to the end of the year.  Again, we are most fortunate to be able to keep Ms Kraeling in K-2 as she already knows and loves our kids and they love her too.

The bottom line – our kids are in great hands!

Rita
